Two times award-winning fusion flamenco/pop guitarist Amin Safari has been fascinated by guitar since he first saw one at age six. However it was not till a few years later that he played his first note on the guitar. After a few years of self taught lessons, Amin entered Folk University in Sweden where he received a degree in classical music under instruction of an amazing teacher Tom Houwing. He was also very interested in science and entered the PhD program/Forskarskolan in Umea University And received a Bachelor of Science in Histopathology and a Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering/Molecular Biology. After traveling throughout Europe, Amin arrived in Spain and fell in love with the art of flamenco.. Although he pursued a scientific career as a molecular biologist at Umea University in Sweden & Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas; the passion for music was always there.
The high-energy rhythms and passionate melodies captivate the audience of all ages and race. His last four albums “A Different Tune, Pasion de la Guitarra, Luna, Amor and La Rumba” are a fusion of flamenco with other worldly sounds.
The album “Luna” was a recipient of the Akademia award for “Best Latin Instrumental” in November 2015.
The album “La Rumba” was a recipient of the Akademia award for “Best World Beat” in September 2017.
