Backyard Games comprises O'Connell brothers Danny and Jack; an indie rock duo from Baltimore whose music is influenced by a wildly eclectic blend of pop, rock, and punk accompanied by lyrics that offer a rapid-fire and sometimes surreal perspective on the world around them. With frontman Danny on vocals and guitar, and his brother Jack on drums, the O’Connells have been playing their respective instruments since they were ten years old. After a set of records written and performed behind his rap persona Brown Bear, Danny began writing rock songs when Jack (ex-drummer of pop rockers The Chance) introduced him to the lo-fi music of pop-punkers Modern Baseball, giving the brothers an unusual common interest and a drive to create something symbiotic. After a few months making music on their own, the O’Connells decided to take their act live and work on their first full-length album, recorded and produced in Jack's studio.
