Located at the University of Newcastle’s Callaghan Campus, the Bar on the Hill has been an icon of the Hunter region music scene since the 1980’s. A cafe by day, the Bar on the Hill transforms into a thriving bar and live music venue by night. Bar on the Hill undertook a major refurbishment in early 2012.

The Bar has played to host to music legends including Silverchair, Tool, Grinspoon, The Rubens, Pnau, Meg Mack, You Am I, The Whitlams, Jet, Eskimo Joe, The Living End, Regurgitator, Cat Empire & more

The Bar on the Hill caters to all genres of music and performance and can be set to ‘cabaret’ mode or ‘theatre style’ as required. Stand-up comedy, street theatre, DJs, acoustic acts and world music have all featured on the Bar on the Hill calendar.
