Located in the heart of Byron Bay, the Byron Theatre (housed within the Byron Community Centre) is a modern, multi functioned space, hosting a full range of live performance from ballet, movies and theatre, to concerts, conferences and awards events. It is the most highly technical and creatively adaptable performance space in the Byron Shire.
The Byron Theatre is part of the Community Centre’s not for profit social enterprise model: this means any funds raised from events will go towards services and projects that benefit the community.
Designed as an Amphitheatre style auditorium, it has tiered seating for 246 people, including a balcony circle, stage wings and green room. The theatre seating can be retracted to leave an open space with a 200-square meter sprung dance floor suitable for cabaret-style setups.
It also boasts a cinema size screen, HD laser projector with Dolby surround sound and DCP playback.
In 2020 the theatre installed a new Turbosound PA, with an Allen & Heath SQ7 audio console and Dante routing.
The theatre has recently purchased broadcast quality video cameras, switching and streaming hardware, meaning that it has become a fully equipped recording and live-streaming studio. Dual fibre NBN connections support high bandwidth streaming.
The Community Centre offers multiple spaces for hire, in addition to the theatre, providing a range of options to suit your event and your budget.
The theatre and meeting rooms are fully air-conditioned.
