In 1999, Malik moved to Washington, D.C. where his talents for playing deep and eclectic house sets secured him multiple residencies at the most well respected club spots in the area from 2004 until 2007. In 2002, Malik was flown to L.A. as the featured DJ for the Golden Globe Awards Nominee After Party event in Hollywood where he spun for the production team of the film “Y Tu Mama Tambien”, which was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film that year.
After visit to Bali, Indonesia in the fall of 2004, he was booked several times over at every notable club spot in Seminyak including Double Six where was a featured prime time NYE guest spinning deep progressive and vocal house tracks to a packed room of over 2500 revelers.
Once back in DC, Malik set himself up as one of the area’s preeminent private function and charity DJs. From 2004 till 2009, high-end specialty stores Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue hired Malik as their main music source during various fashion promotion and charity events where he played a sexy and diverse mix of lounge, deep house, and Latin jazz infused house. By 2007 jewelry giant Tiffany & Co. also jumped on the bandwagon. Malik was also the main DJ for prominent local lifestyle periodicals Washington Life and Capitol File Magazine Dj’ing Versace’s Rodeo Drive Walk of Style Award, Salvatore Ferragamo Fashion Show, & afterparty for White House Correspondents' Association Dinner held at the residence of Colombian ambassador Carolina Barco.
