DJ Salami has been bringing his unique musical sensibility to parties across Sydney for more than 15 years. He began his DJing career at Goodgod Small Club (R.I.P.) hosting the seminal Jingle Jangle parties bringing weird world sounds from the pre internet era to the dance floor, whipping the crowd into frenzied euphoria.
Following this, he embarked on opening his own left-field dance spot, Freda’s (R.I.P.). This is where Smokey LaBeef became DJ Salami after hosting an Italo Disco party. The moniker stuck, and Salami would go on to play his blend of dance music to the masses from neu club anthems, to outsider house, to proto techno bangers, as well as hosting nights with some of the world's best DJs at the now defunct party bar.
