We have a huge double-header on the 28th October with local legends Amy Shark and City Over Sand.
Amy Shark is a brooding musician who can be found writing and recording in her little house on the Gold Coast. With a passion for film, music and a slight obsession with Sharks, Amy is best described as the creatively complex girl next door, who puts her entire heart on record.
Her recent single ‘Adore’ spent all of one night out in the big wide world before being added to Triple J almost immediately. The high rotation pricked up ears from all over the globe. Her lyrics placed a spotlight on a highly charged emotional time of life that's common enough to be considered a rite of passage. It went to Number 1 on the Spotify local and Viral chart within its first 2 weeks. Produced by M-Phazes I think it’s safe to say they were a match made in pop-music heaven. The music video was directed and cut by Amy herself. It’s a lush visual to accompany the music, shot in Amy’s old high school, and private home where many ‘coming of age’ feelings and emotions where discovered. Adore is huge, and is clearly going to rattle the pop charts in 2016.
City Over Sand is a band that you discover by accident. They write, rehearse and record in a backyard shed and promptly deliver songs to the world, ready to be consumed by those hungry enough to find it and hold onto it. Their new album 'Good Grief' has just been released.
"This album is about family, friends and asking questions that will never be answered. That’s it really. Good Grief is about life, death and therapy through song, conversations and connection." They are celebrating the release of their new album on vinyl with their show at NightQuarter!
