With a 15 year history of playing together and the unique camaraderie and respect that exists between the band members, The Sydney Jazz Trio create new levels of enthusiasm and creativity that exceeds audience expectations. Three of the most experienced and diverse improvising musicians in Australia, combine their love of standards by such greats as Cole Porter, Gershwin, Jerome Kern and Duke Ellington, with their passion for bebop and beyond, the fire of Charlie Parker, and the freedom of Charles Mingus.


The Sydney Jazz Trio creates a unique "Chamber Jazz" style, characterised by Brien's sinuously mobile lines, the driving energy of Arié's bass lines, the warm lyricism of Cutlan's bass clarinet and the ommission of drums. The three combine their love of the jazz tradition and hard swinging with a freedom of interaction which is both creative and liberating.

Along with the music, the Sydney Jazz Trio presents a complete concert experience. They enjoy entertaining and communicating with the audience, relating interesting anecdotes about songs and composers, instruments, and the life of the jazz musician.

An Intimate Night @ Hotel Blue

This will be an Intimate Night in the Sisters Blue Restaurant. It’s a small room by typical music venue standards – don’t expect big crowds! Think good food, good wine (and beer and cocktails of course) and great music! This is a casual night and a great opportunity to get up close with world-class musicians. Enjoy a two-course dinner with the show for $59 or see the show only for $25. Even if you book the show only (without the dinner), you will be seated at a table and a casual bar menu will be available on the night, so you can still order a meal or something to nibble on. And don’t forget – if you’re bringing some friends, just let us know so we can seat you together.

Come along early to enjoy music duo Glenn Skarratt and Simon Watts. With their blend of audience-minded Celtic, folk, Latin, blues and roots music, this duo will have you toe-tappin' and will have your soul dancing into the night. Simon Watts’ lifetime love of both Celtic and classical music has helped make him a favourite with audiences across Australia.

He was a 2009 finalist in the Golden Fiddle Awards. Bridging musical styles from Irish to jazz, bluegrass to Latin with a touch of rock and blues, the resulting release, The Weeping Tree Paddock, solidified the pair’s resolve to create an entertaining mix of all the different styles of music they loved to play. Simon Watts’ polished music style is matched only by Glenn Skarratt’s dynamic versatility with finger-style and flat-pick acoustic guitar sounds.

The duo love to go with the mood of the moment in order to make each performance fresh and one-of-a-kind. Skarratt and Watts form a flexible, versatile and unpredictable unit with a large and wide-reaching repertoire. They enjoy challenging each other on stage sometimes making up songs and arrangements on the spot but always with a mind to keep their audiences toes tapping and not quite knowing what will happen next.
