AROUND THE SOUND TURNS FIVE WITH A MASSIVE SHOWCASE OF WA ORIGINAL MUSIC AT THE ROSEMOUNT
Sometime in December 2016, Around The Sound came to life. With a fresh take on music journalism and a strong focus on local, we’ve now been championing everything that’s great about WA music for five years!
So, we’re throwing a party, and you’re all invited. We’re so excited, we’ll even be giving away lolly bags. And, of course, there will be a massive showcase of WA original music.
Yep, Around The Sound is turning five and you get the lollies!
Joining us on the night are…
LEGS ELECTRIC
Since forming around the time Around The Sound came into being, Legs Electric quickly became Perth’s very best hard rock outfit, bar none. They’re slick and have a lineage that is steeped in the very best of the 70s without ever sounding like anything but today. If you haven’t seen Legs Electric yet, come along and see what all the heat is about. If you have, you know you’re not going to want to miss them tearing up the main stage at the Rosemount.
ELECTRIC STATE
Having taken most of the choccies at this year’s local music awards, Electric State have quickly become one of the hottest and hardest gigging tickets in town. Playing 90s influenced hard rocking tunes, Electric State have a presence on stage that’s like a Labrador puppy — completely irresistible. Bring your best singing voice, because you’re likely to end up atop the Rosemount bar with, singer Rob Viney, and his best mate, Janis, singing the chorus to ‘We’re Just Blood’. Whatever happens, it’ll be mayhem, so make sure you don’t miss out.
CECILIA BRANDOLINI
Cecilia Brandolini performs original widescreen alt-pop. The way she goes about her craft, introducing the alt to the mainstream one show at a time, someday soon the whole world will be in the spotlight with her. Put simply, Brandolini is this generation’s Elton John. Her songs are moving, inspiring, sometimes sad, but always fixed on the light that comes with a life lived fully and consciously. When you step into the world of Cecilia Brandolini’s music expect to be transported by the melodies and the ecstasy in her voice. Once you’re in, don’t be surprised when she changes your entire world.
BAD WEATHER
With their take on indie pop freshening things up like the Freo Doctor on a hot summer’s day, Bad Weather could just be the next big thing. Not just in Perth, but globally. Brainchild of guitar god in the making, Callum Robertson, Bad Weather are what could happen in Robert Fripp and Johnny Marr got together to create some tracks, but they were only allowed to use a synth. Except, what Robertson does is way better that anything those two has beens could come up with. Come see for yourself, Bad Weather will not disappoint.
EASY JEAN
Featuring an all-star line up of Aus music superstars, Easy Jean make music that sounds like it arrived in a spaceship via the mean streets of New York city. Reviewing their current EP, Around The Sound said their music is “as close to being a modern masterpiece of contemporary music as you’ll hear, any time, anywhere, ever.” Easy Jean are easily one of Perth’s best kept musical secrets right now. Get down early and check them out. You’ll have to live for ever with regret if you don’t.
