When ‘you’ve got the blues’, you think about misfortune, betrayal, heart-ache and regret. You lose your job, you get the blues. Your dog dies, you get the blues. While the lyrics often deal with personal adversity, the music itself goes far beyond self-pity and discomfort. The blues is about overcoming hard luck, saying what you feel, ridding yourself of frustration, letting your hair down, and simply having fun. The Roaring 20s were the times of the blues – life was tough! Bluesmen left the plantations, juke joints, and rambling shacks of the Deep South and headed into the big cities. Everyone talks about Jazz however Blues in the 1920s was a way of life and the big cities didn’t make it easy. Head back to the 1920s this week with The Blue Mountain Devils. The brothers in blues are back to welcome y’all to the ‘Blue Mountains’. They’re not actually brothers…but they do argue like brothers! Come along this Thursday for your weekly dose of the blues! 6:30-8:30pm. Free event. Bar & Kitchen open. Welcome to the ‘Blue Mountains’ y’all!
