Buffalo Paradise produce songs dripping with seafoam. Unafraid to get a crowd moving, this Sydney-based outfit leads with punchy vocals, thumping basslines, and driving rock rhythms, all coupled with laid back harmonies and surfy guitar leads that transport you to crystalline seas by sandy shores.

Fate struck when Lachie met Angus at social hockey in late 2019 and they discovered common musical inspirations, from Spacey Jane to Lime Cordiale and Gang of Youths. Hostage to a tsunami of inspiration, Angus and Lachie had no choice but to embark on a journey for paradise. The tide washed up Chris, Rory, and Naren Funk Fingers onto Buffalo Paradise’s shores, and the group matured into a fully formed outfit. These salt-crusted boogie urchins kicked off their musical career at their debut headline show, taking centre stage at former techno den Three Wise Monkeys. Setlist in hand, Buffalo paradise went to the studio, recording their first single Buffalo Paradise, by Buffalo Paradise.

Lead vocalist Lachie and guitarist Angus knew Buffalo Paradise was a dream worth pursuing. They wove melodies that drifted home as effortlessly as ocean currents, but they needed to workshop their tunes. What better way than a 50-large group chat? This pioneering strategy proved successful. Notes in hand, they tweaked their sound in a seedy Haymarket studio. Now they needed the talent. Angus brought on his brother Chris. At first, they didn’t know what to do with him, but he played a lot of instruments, so they were sure they could put him to use. Chris brought on the coolest drummer he knew, Rory, who came with a furious heavy metal influence – far from Buffalo Paradise’s chilled out ethos – so they met halfway and granted him a healthy allowance of bass kicks. Far and wide they voyaged, through seas high and storms bitter, in search of a bass player before they chanced upon the jazz inflected Naren Funk Fingers Iyer. All the while, Lachie and Angus bonded routinely over Kazoos, infuriating the captain, and risking the plank, but they endured and found Buffalo Paradise at last. With far flung talents, the crew upgraded their rehearsal space to Buffalo HQ, an indoor vertical farm in the heart of Rosebery, Sydney where they laid down the licks for their Single.
