At 24, Toronto-based musician Paul Callander is not your average performer. A graduate of Humber College’s Bachelor of Music program, Paul's journey took flight at age 12 when he picked up the trumpet. His musical prowess quickly surpassed his years as he learned to improvise in the style of the great jazz masters of the 20th century, and through a serendipitous string of stints as a vocalist, he soon found his voice as a modern-day crooner. Influenced by pioneers like Louis Armstrong, Johnny Hartman, Ella Fitzgerald and Clifford Brown, Paul has crafted a unique sound that captivates audiences. As a trumpeter, vocalist, bandleader, and composer, he's become a prominent figure in Toronto's vibrant music scene. Regularly gracing renowned Toronto venues such as the Rex, Drom Taberna, and Annette Studio, Paul has become a sought-after performer, leaving an indelible mark with his unforgettable live shows. Accompanied by some of Toronto’s finest young musicians, Paul has released two albums of original music to date: "The Green Trees of June" (March 2020) and "PCQ+2" (August 2022) which have collectively earned him close to a million streams to date. Each release is a testament to Paul's artistry and a mosaic of the ways in which he interprets music. With a fusion of virtuosity and soulful melodies, Paul Callander is not just a musician; he's a sonic storyteller whose performances are not to be missed.
