Tuesday Night is generally associated with tucking the children into bed and wishing for the weekend. Well, Music in the Mountains and Mesa Barrio have teamed up to give you a reason to look forward to Tuesday. On the second Tuesday of the month, come along for a scrumptious meal at Mesa Barrio, one of the Mountains' top eats, and explore a classic album with a live musician. For June's show, Matt Arthur, an Orange (NSW) based artist, will be exploring Eric Clapton's 'Unplugged' (1992).

The Album:
'Unplugged' is Eric Clapton's best selling album, won 2 Grammys and is the best selling live album of all time. When Clapton took the stage at Bray Film Studios to record an MTV Unplugged Special in 1992, it was a particularly emotional time for the musician. Clapton, still reeling from the death of his four-year-old son months earlier had just penned the track 'Tears in Heaven' in honour of his son. Clapton's raw, heartfelt performance immediately struck a chord with listeners upon the first airing of the 'Unplugged' special and has become a classic album in most audiophile's collection.

The Artist:
A professional guitarist/singer with over 30 years experience in the music industry. Specialising in Blues and Rock, he started playing the guitar at the age 8 years of age. Matt Arthur relocated from Sydney to Orange in early 2015 following the sale of his Guitar School in Sydney, which taught over 500 students with and a staff of 8 teachers. In this time he has established himself as the go-to guy in Orange for many artists in need of a guitarist for live or studio work. He has a fluid style of playing and is versatile across all genres. He has delivered some fine classic album sessions, including Van Morrison’s Moondance, Eric Clapton’s Unplugged, Led Zeppelin IV and Dire Straits Brothers in Arms. 2018 sees Matt releasing his Debut Solo album On Their Shoulders, a collection of covers paying tribute to the artists who have inspired him. It’s a sparse acoustic groove collection with plenty of toe-tappers and slick licks. All recorded in Orange at Rolling Wheel Studios.

'Dinner & show' or just the show?:
Mesa Barrio's bar & kitchen open from 5:30 pm and the kitchen will be able to take orders until 8:00 pm. If you would like to come along for dinner, we recommend seating no later than 7:00 pm to allow enough time to enjoy a meal, however, if you're just after a drink (and something to nibble on), you're welcome to arrive at your leisure. Everyone will be seated at tables on the night, so if you're coming with friends, please let us know when you make your booking. Tickets will be available at the door on the night (unless sold out).

The Venue:
Mesa Barrio has firm roots in Catalonian alleyways, Greek tavernas and Italian enoteche. Head Chef, Will Cowan–Lunn has created a dynamic menu formulated through traditional Mediterranean influence and modern technique. Will’s impressive resume includes a Head Chef position at Rockpool Bar and Grill, Melbourne, as well as many hatted restaurants throughout Sydney. The menu at Mesa Barrio emphasizes local produce, most notably, vegetables from Blue Mountains producers First Farm Organics, Epicurean Harvest and fresh fruit and vegetables picked up daily by Veggie Patch in Blackheath. The seafood arrives fresh daily from Fish and Fowl and all meats are free-range from Deli Ham and Crack Willow Farm. The bar has an ever-evolving wine list, representing some of our favourite local producers from the Central Ranges, as well as other great Australian and international vignerons. Also featured are local and international small batch liquor producers, with a strong focus on providing well-crafted cocktails, to match the quality of food. Our ambient space is always filled with good music and lends itself to larger groups. A communal concrete table runs down one side of the restaurant, highlighting the restaurant’s motivation and philosophy, that all food and wine is best shared with friends and familia.
