If you’re a local musician in Perth, chances are you’ve played a show at the well renowned four5nine bar in North Perth. Nestled inside the iconic Rosemount Hotel - a venue established in 1902 and famous for championing live, original music - the 100 capacity band room has been a platform for many emerging and seasoned musicians and performing artists throughout its years. 

It’s almost a rite of passage to perform at four5nine especially in the early days of a band. The room has acted as an incubation hub for emerging local acts and has provided the perfect sized room for National artists touring to Perth in their early career. Julia Jacklin, Marlon Williams, Daniel Champagne, The Murlocs, Stonefield, SKEGSS, Orb, Jess Locke, Didirri, Hollow Coves and countless more all started in four5nine.

The effects COVID-19 has had on the arts and events industries is widely known. Since March 2020 when the dreaded virus struck, four5nine closed its doors and said goodbye to hosting live music and events five nights a week. Even at half capacity the room wasn’t able to operate due to the outgoing production and staffing costs involved in hosting events. The removal of this room meant the removal of yet another platform for emerging musicians to put on their launches and celebrate their art. 

It is only after the recent move back to full capacity that Rosemount Hotel is able to re-open four5nine and start re-booking and re-building the space to what it once was, and thanks to a grant from Live Music Australia, the venue will be able to go full steam ahead! To celebrate, four5nine is hosting a re-launch gig with a special Meet & Greet with some of Perth’s Venue Bookers and Booking Agents - and you’re invited! Come down from 5:30pm and enjoy complimentary drinks and meet the people who book the venues you play! It’s your chance to ask those burning questions, put a face to the name and let them know what you’d like to see in Perth music venues, too.
