They say good things take time; the very premise upon which Willem Sherlock Roorda’s new album Momentum is built. Momentum, thus titled with a healthy sense of irony, has been 18 months in the making and is the fruitful collaboration of a host of superb musicians. A self-confessed bluesman, Willem trespasses unashamedly into the enigmatic and murky world of jazz armed solely with enthusiasm, a guitar and the company of legends. Joined by Bruce Cale, Frank Corby and Rob Weule, in two short hours Willem will play you through the precipitous learning curve of the past 18 months of jazz as well as give a brief glimpse of the blues to come.
