Melbourne based trio, Koi Kingdom, is made up of Marcos Villalta (guitar) Cheryl Durongpisitkul (sax) and Stephen Hornby (double bass). With jazz as a starting point, the band was formed in 2016 on a shared love of composing and performing original music as well as a mutual respect for each other’s craft. Koi Kingdom is a place where all three members can freely express themselves, composing music for each other and working together to make highly personal, collective music. Their diverse music encompasses many influences from jazz and classical music to folk music of Brazil and India. Koi Kingdoms distinctive sound is characterised by detailed composition, instrumental virtuosity and fearless exploration.
