Saturday Night Jazz will see Melbourne based drummer/composer Aaron McCoullough launch his new release 'Provenience' as part of a national tour. The event will feature Tom Noonan (Saxophone- Melb), Carl Morgan (guitar-Syd), Abel Cross (bass-Syd), and Aaron McCullough (drums/compositions - Melb). Aaron's new album release is embedded in the reflection, and rediscovery of specific localities unique to the Illawarra region in New South Wales, with each composition representing a personal response to the constructs of ‘time’ and ‘place’.
Born in Wollongong, Aaron relocated to Melbourne in 2004 to undertake studies at the Victorian College of Arts. Since completing his undergraduate studies, Aaron has been a mainstay of the Melbourne music scene as an accompanist, collaborator, and bandleader fronting his own original projects with the result being two self-released titles: 'Portrait of Thoughts' (2013), and 'Provenience' (2018). His work has been well documented with appearances nationally and internationally. These musical encounters have led to numerous tours of industry recognised recording projects. Alongside his performance practice of composer/drummer, Aaron is a current PhD candidate. Aaron proudly endorses Sakae Drums.
Join Aaron at Hotel Blue this Saturday Night, 6:30-8:30 pm. Come along early if you want a seat as it's first come, first served. Bar & Kitchen open, family-friendly, free event. Live music @ Hotel Blue is brought to you by 'Music in the Mountains'.
