Miguel Leyva better known as Frunkyman is a cannon fodder of all things funky. Hailing from Northern California, he is a composer, bassist, and an experimenter of groove and harmonic tincture. The cosmically eccentric sound adorned with elaborate funk convolutions and electronic elements have been a new sound in the Bay Area with notable performances and awards such as San Jose Jazz New Works 2022 Awardee, performance at Blues and Brews Festival 2022 & 2023, performance at San Jose Summer Fest 23’, Featured Artist and Resident at the San Jose Museum Of Art, and DYKSJ Artist series among other performances all over the Bay Area. His latest releases include three singles recorded with Bay Area award winning engineers and released independently in all streaming platforms. Now arrives to Art Boutiki to release his first album “The Frunk is Real” Infusing a whimsical twist into his persona, Frunkyman is a fictional extraterrestrial character unintentionally marooned on Earth. His mission involves spreading "frunk" across the planet with his mothership (the band) as he endeavors to find his way back to Fropiter.
