Guy Strazz is pleased to announce a return to collaborating with brilliant pianist Matt McMahon following his previously AIR nominated 2@1 jazz release (Birdland Records), and the Jazz APRA Mandela (ABC). Guy and Matt will joined by bassist Craig Scott and drummer Dave Goodman who have graced the stage with musicians such Joe Henderson, Joe Lovano, Mark Isaacs, and Matt Keegan.
Guy’s new original music with the Acoustic Wonderland Band continues the melding of jazz, Afro-Latin music, and South Indian classical music; an approach previously established on Guy’s CD Calcutta Express, which picked up an Indie Acoustic Project USA 2006 Nomination, and Eastern Blues (Rufus 2013) - CD of the Week on the ABC The Planet.
While Acoustic Wonderland proposes new ground in this field of music, rich melodies and rhythms remain central Guy’s work. There are explorations of seemingly simple harmonies leaning towards folk-rock music in new tunes such as the emotive Taj Mahal, a South Indian influenced arrangement of Miles Davis’ All Blues as well as the fire and joy of tunes such as Afro Bouban and Dadra Funk, and the revisit of the Riddle – a milestone composition in Australian acoustic fusion.
Join the exciting Acoustic Wonderland Band for their Boilerhouse debut appearance and be part of their Blue Mountains journey!
