Peter Long a.k.a 'immed8', is a performing musician and vocalist, songwriter, sound engineer and composer, based in the Blue Mountains, west of Sydney, Australia. He has a string of CD credits to his name as a musician and performer in a career spanning over thirty years, and is a performing member of the Spooky Men’s Chorale, a men’s a cappella group steeped in the Georgian vocal tradition with a humorous take on secret men’s business, recently returned from a successful tour of the UK in 2015. He is a principle organiser and musical director of the recent Beatlefest 2016 and Life On Mars: A Celebration of the Music of David Bowie tributes, and performs regularly with local bands The Winstons and Johnny Habitual as well as recording with electro-pop outfit Ashram Poets. He released the album Midday Sun in 2007 to glowing reviews and won the alternative category of the Blue Mountains Music Awards in that year.
More recently he released the album Sounds Of In-Between resulting from a first class honours degree investigation into liminality in music at Western Sydney University, as well as taking out the WSU university medal in 2015. He is currently undertaking a PhD researching the role of spatio-temporal suspended phenomena in popular music and imagery, composing the soundtrack for the Blue Mountains-based short film The Last Babushka Doll and more recently has started a new band, the proto-psychedelic Paper Sun with Steve Waters, Mark Bradridge and Steve Gunning.
