/ ISOBEL KNIGHT /
Isobel Knight is a soul-loving, pop-obsessed folk songstress born and raised in the Blue Mountains in NSW. Growing from her roots playing street corners, lounge-rooms and cafes, she has spent the past few years singing her heart out in venues across the inner west of Sydney and up the east coast of NSW, including supporting former Middle East front-man Jordan Ireland with the Purple Orchestra at the Katoomba stop of their national tour. Appearances at the Newtown Festival (2016), Good Vibes Parramatta (2017) and alongside Andie Isalie, Gostwyck and Albany have seen her perform both solo and with her band The Nest Eggs, who were assembled to create her first release.
The Nest (2018), was recorded in live home sessions in Wentworth Falls in the Blue Mountains and launched at a sold-out show at The Newsagency in Annandale. Three tracks from The Nest landed in the Triple J Unearthed charts, both placing within the top 100 songs in their debut weeks. The independently released album has since garnered more than half a million Spotify plays.
Talking To Myself (2019) is a new EP written about change, love, and abandoning any pretence of cool, and was produced by Matt Sampson, keyboard wizard of Sydney alt-rock outfit Sampson. Happy Mag called it “five tracks of folk-pop bliss”. After a preview show at the Factory Floor in Marrickville in December 2018, Isobel skipped across the pond to the United States, where she won a singer-songwriter contest and got to perform at Boston festival Modstock. 2019 has featured a six-city east coast tour to promote the EP, and SoFar Sounds sessions and shows across the USA as well as collaborations with Brooklyn rockers Children Having Children and Glass Jackets frontwoman Ilana Held. Boston music magazine Metronome called her “an emotionally charged singer and songstress, destined for big things”.
