Grabbing inspiration from the hard bop, swing, and tight combo sound of the 60’s and 70’s, the Jazz Messengers String Quartet presents a new look and a new sound for those familiar tunes made famous by Coltrane, Blakey, and Adderley.

Made up of a standard string quartet of 2 violins, a viola and a cello, the JMSQ adds a swinging rhythm section and new arrangements tailor-made for the voices of the strings. Players in the ensemble bring a wealth of experience as members of every kind of jazz ensemble imaginable, but now they get to bring their string sound front and center for a whole new feel.
