This ain’t no “nouveau-retro” affectation. This is the real deal. The Delta Riggs wear their blues credentials and roots music pedigree on their sleeves. Call ’em white-boy soul or rhythm ’n’ blues, The Delta Riggs are as joyously gritty, and steeped in genuine Americana and good time classic freak ’n’ roll as ever a band was. The Delta riggs are a core unit of seven common souls – Elliott Hammond-vocals, Aaron Jackson-guitar, Michael Tramonte-bass, Alex Markwell-guitar, Simon McConnell-drums, Alex Edwards-keys and Nic Futcher-percussion. “We are a band of musicians who are on the same page. Not just musically, but spiritually”, says Hammond. The Delta Riggs are as comfortable careening from ol’ time country to kick-in-the-teeth rawk. “The focus for us is on the music and immersing ourselves in it”, says Hammond, when people listen to the album we’re writing, we want them to lose themselves in our world”.

Live is where the band hit their stride, and the hubbub has already started. The odd support and their own blistering gigs have spawned a growing legion of devotees traipsing after the band’s footsteps. “Live is where it’s all about,” affirms Hammond. “Put us in a room and we’ll win anyone over.” He’s right, too.

With their rootsy soul and stunning gospel harmonies and swaggering blues, the Delta Riggs have picked up the torch of rock ’n’ roll’s free-wheeling spirit and are running with it.
