Over the years, the band has expanded its musical boundaries incorporating folkloric instruments and styles from Uruguayan Candombe, Venezuelan Joropo, Mexican Ranchera, Cuban Son and Colombian Cumbia.
The groups musical influences also include ‘non’ Latin styles and contemporary instruments and through performing and composing together they unearthed there own unique sound.

Recognized internationally they perform at major festivals, concerts and events throughout Australia, Asia, Europe and South America. Now led by Oscar Marins sons Cesar and Steve Marin, Sonido remains at the forefront new music and are regarded as one of the chief exponents of Latin American music in the world.

One minute they play in unison, the next in harmony, then across and against each other, it is calm then chaotic, beautiful then forceful. It is difficult to fully describe them until you’ve heard them. The interplay and understanding that flows through them is inspiring, endearing and infectious. Anyone! Or anyone who plays a guitar, anyone who aspires to playing guitar, anyone who enjoys listening to guitar must see these incredible players. fresh from working Japan and a record release not too far away, these guys are a festival favorite!
