THIS SHOW IS STRICTLY 18+
Before the venerated Newtown Social Club closes its doors for good on 23 April, producer/glitch queen Lupa J announces a launch show on Tuesday 11 April for her as-yet unreleased new single 'Put Me Back Together'. Kicking off her year with a cacophonous remix of Kalacoma's 'Knives', Lupa J has been busily carving out her niche in the young electronic scene with aplomb. Having shared stages with the likes of Grimes, Sarah Blasko and Tegan & Sara, it's clear that Lupa's innovation and commitment to individualism continue to serve her well. Her 2016 EP 'My Right Name' and its subsequent remix EP, featuring Marcus Whale, Land Systems and more, pricked the ears of Rolling Stone, Purple Sneakers, Acid Stag and many others. With the release of her first official single of 2017 'Put Me Back Together' virtually upon us and her launch show around the corner, Lupa J had this to say about the closing of the Newtown Social Club:
"My first official live show as Lupa J was supporting another artist at the Newtown Social Club, and I still remember being blown away by the atmosphere and how tight we sounded in that room. I've since played several shows there at various stages of my musical development, and I've seen some of my favourite local & international artists own its stage - it's no doubt been a key place for my introduction into the Sydney music scene. It's so devastating to lose such a fantastic & affordable small sized venue - these are the kinds of places that are really crucial for emerging bands, we're all really going to feel its loss. But we're also not going away any time soon - we're not going to stop making music or lose hope. I can't wait to see you all there one last time."
