Before you are wowed by Jack Beeche, come along to enjoy a drink in the lounge as Martyn Cook plays Celtic Harp in the Lounge. As touring and recording saxophonist with Australian progressive rock band Anubis, and performing at corporate and private events with his jazz trio Jazz Daiquiri in which he plays saxophone, flute and trumpet, Martyn is also kept very busy with the Celtic harp.
Martyn always maintains the highest level of professionalism delivering all music with grace and sensitivity.
Originally from England, Martyn emigrated to Australia in 1994 following six and a half years as a musician in the band of the French Foreign Legion with whom he was based at Aubagne near Marseilles in the south of France. Something about the harp, however, sets it apart from all the other instruments Martyn plays; the sound, tone, resonance, so many small things that combine to give it an indefinable quality which can invoke happiness and joy as well as relaxation and calm.
Martyn is a very approachable musician and always happy to answer questions about the harp and let people try playing a few notes or running their fingers over the strings.
Before you settle in to see Jack Beeche, why not head to the Lounge at Hotel Blue and enjoy a drink, something to eat, and let Martyn soothe the soul! 5:00-6:30pm, free event.
