Sterling has played Bombs a few times with Corvallis native, Wilhelmina FrankZerda and he is excited to share his new project with everyone!

Moon Dog Stringband is one of the most exciting new voices in old-time American string band music. Mandolinist Sterling Abernathy, guitarist Jake Stargel, and banjo player, fiddler, and vocalist Leo Shannon have created a strong authentic sound blending old-time, bluegrass, and classic country. From energetic fiddle tunes to soulful country ballads, they showcase a wide range of skills from all being steeped in American folk music from a young age. Abernathy and Stargel are regulars on the Grand Old Opry and in the Nashville bluegrass scene. Shannon grew up in Seattle, WA and has made a name for himself in the old-time scene on the west coast and in Asheville, NC where he currently resides. Moon Dog Stringband released their self-titled debut album at the end of 2018.
