OLY SHERMAN // Sunday, February 21, 2021 // 6:00 - 8:00 pm // Free live music to accompany dinner
Venue: Aunty Ed's, 122 Katoomba St, Katoomba.

With nostalgic decor, old-school meals, craft beers, regional wines and retro cocktails, Aunty Ed's Katoomba will be THE place to hang out on a Sunday evening. But book ahead - Aunty Ed's is a locals favourite night out.
This week, OLY SHERMAN will be dropping in for a couple of sets. Having emerged over the last couple of years as an exciting fresh face out of Sydney’s indie-folk scene, Oly Sherman has matched his on-record captivation on stages too, winning hearts with his all-enveloping brand of performance that has seen him compared to the likes of Matt Corby and Josh Pyke. Sherman’s music, that has resulted with the 'Three Oh Three' EP, is a representation of how sometimes creativity can be borne out of the strangest of situations. Previous singles ‘Bones’, ‘Madness’ and ‘Pain-Free Melody’ (all of which have had spins on Triple J) are strong examples of his songwriting talent, balancing dark and light textures, while elsewhere on the EP, Sherman’s rich vocal notes thrive amongst sparse arrangement (‘Reykjavik’) and layered production ‘Noir (Is There No Love Anymore).
Now off the back of a busy year of producing, rising indie singer-songwriter returns with his new singles ‘Homeboy’ and ‘The World is in a Bad Room’ (which have also had spins on radio including Triple J), are a taste of his new album which is expected to be released this year. The Sydney artist delivers another serving of evocative music, created to instantly wrap the listener up in its warmth.
“It’s stirring, world class folk and that pay off at the end is so worth it.”
— TRIPLE J, DECLAN BYRNE (‘BONES’)
“A folk sensation echoing the dreamy work of Matt Corby, Boy & Bear and Josh Pyke.”
— HAPPY MAGAZINE
“Bones’ is awash with dynamic, tinkering-on-foreboding melodies and uplifting, crescendoing percussion, mirroring the headspace Sherman was in when crafting the track.”
— MUSIC FEEDS (‘BONES’)
