Guests: This Way North
THIS SHOW IS STRICTLY 18+
There has never been more intense conversation around the subject of women in the Australian music industry. 2018 has already begun with opening the dialogue about the drive for change… ’Sass the Patriarchy’ is about positive action, the creation of opportunity for women, and a chance to show support.
This Way North's Leisha Jungalwalla and Cat Leahy are presenting a weekly residency of music and empowering discussions. For ALL music community members who support women in the music industry - a chance to celebrate some of the incredibly talented women in the Melbourne music scene and hold positive discussions that lead to direct action towards a more inclusive scene for women.
Every Wednesday night in February, This Way North and their guest act will each play a set, with a special guest host leading discussions with the artists and audience about the past, present and bright future of women in the music industry. These short and intimate discussions will centre around the artists experiences in the industry, and importantly the strategies and resources available that might improve the music environment for women both now and in the future. We’ll cover issues such as equal representation on festival line ups (and all line-ups), how to include more women into industry roles such as sound engineers, producers, radio hosts and managers, and continuing the efforts to make places of work and play, safe and inclusive. Positive, Informative, and fun, this night belongs to everyone who wants to see a positive change.
Participate, have your say, bring your ideas, or just listen this will be a safe and inclusive space to do so. There'll be great live music, short but thought provoking discussions, cheap Two Birds beer, and a raffle to raise funds for theInternational Women’s Development Agency.
