Sydney ambient/melodic post-rockers SLEEPMAKESWAVES have announced their biggest headline tour to date, in support of their new album ‘Love of Cartography’\n\nThe ‘Great Northern’ tour celebrates the release of the band’s latest single and will see them play 55 shows in 22 countries from March until June. They will wrap up their epic run across the globe with 10 dates in Australia including a headline show at the Metro Theatre in their hometown of Sydney.\n\nsleepmakeswaves had a massive 2014, with ‘Love of Cartography’ charting at #31 on the ARIA Chart (#2 on the 100% Independent Charts behind Sia) and nominated for an ARIA Award, J Award, AIR Award and 3 AU Review awards.\n\nThe band’s singles ‘Something Like Avalanches’ and ‘Great Northern’ have aired on triple j and community radio nationally, as well as hitting the Top 200 on CMJ college radio charts in the US.\n\n2014 included touring with Karnivool & Dead Letter Circus, as well as their own shows around Australia, the UK & Europe, including Belgium’s Dunk Festival and London’s Beyond The Redshift Festival.\n\nWith a series of unforgettable and thundering sequences ‘Love of Cartography’ presents the band’s continued desire to map new creative directions. Recorded in Byron Bay at Studio 301 with producer Nick DiDia (Karnivool, Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, Powderfinger, Rage Against The Machine), the album’s 10 tracks range from the epic bombast of ‘Perfect Detonator’ to the delicate and subtle electronic flourishes of ‘A Little Spark.’ The album was supported by a Pozible pre-order campaign, through which the band raised over $30,000 from fans to put towards the album.\n\nsleepmakeswaves recently released a new video for their single ‘Great Northern’. The driving melodic epic is a dramatic and rhythmic take on the band’s energetic instrumentals, featuring memorable hooks and a balance of electronic ambience and rock drive.\n\nsleepmakeswaves have had an amazing run since the release of their debut album “…and so we destroyed everything.” Over the past 3 years, their busy schedule has included 8 Australian tours, 3 European tours, touring the USA and playing SXSW, supports for 65daysofstatic and Karnivool – and an unprecedented nomination for an ARIA Award in 2012.
