Soular Spill Duo are bringers of light, shining, singing and sharing their songs crafted on the subject of life. Starting out as a jazz duo 6 years ago with just stripped back double bass and strong vocal harmonies at their core, Soular Spill’s original music nourishes the heart, it’s soothing to listen to, it’s warm, it’s folky and it resounds with soul. Holding down the bass is Susanne “Skye” Evans a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist based in Katoomba, hailing from Nebraska USA. Skye, well known for her role with local folk and bluegrass band Lime and Steel, brings an evocative feel to this duo with her emotive double bass lines and haunting vocal harmonies. Sarah Jane Spillane is a songsmith, who is dedicated to the craft of composition, her warm enveloping voice, supported by her rhythmic guitar playing, when wrapped up with Skye’s beautiful double bass lines and gorgeous vocal harmonic blending, tells the tale of tree change travels. Influenced by a love of world music, folk, blues and jazz Soular Spill is indeed that. SOULFUL. Whether the topic of their song be darkness or light, speaking of joy or life’s trauma, together Sarah & Skye weave their beautiful voices and instrumental skill into a sound that is heartfelt & has a story to tell.
