Taya Chani is a Sydney-based singer, songwriter, and guitarist whose music is rooted in blues and infused with soul, Americana, jazz, funk, and R’n’B. Known for her soothing yet powerful vocals and confident bandleading, she delivers performances that are emotionally rich, dynamic, and deeply authentic.

Her debut album, Restless Heart (2019), features an outstanding lineup of Sydney-based musicians and highlights her strengths as a songwriter, vocalist, and live performer. Taya has appeared at major festivals including Woodford Folk Festival, the Australian Blues Festival, Marrickville Blues Festival, Sydney Blues Festival, Girrakool Blues Festival, Echuca Winter Blues, Goulburn Blues Festival, and Kiama Jazz & Blues Festival, and has shared stages with many of Australia’s leading blues and roots artists.

Having performed in the Deep South of the United States—including New Orleans, Clarksdale, and Memphis—Taya returned to Australia with renewed purpose and inspiration. More recently, she has collaborated and toured nationally with 8 Ball Aitken on the Nightbird project, whose work reached #1 on the Australian Blues & Roots (AMRAP) charts. Taya Chani continues to honour the traditions of the blues while shaping a modern, soulful voice of her own.
