First held in 1980, the St Kilda Festival is one of the biggest and oldest festivals in Australia, which continues to grow each year attracting between 300,000 and 400,000 attendees. As a proud live music supporter, the Espy is excited to announce a diverse and amazing lineup for Sunday 9th February, showcasing a bunch of amazing artists ready to celebrate the iconic Melbourne summer event.
BRITISH INDIA have long been a favourite with Australian audiences. Their back catalogue of hit tracks like “I Said I’m Sorry”, “Vanilla”, “I Can Make You Love Me” and “Summer Forgive Me” has cemented them as one of the most played acts nationally on Triple J and their acclaimed albums have secured their spot as one of our finest indie rock acts. New album ‘Controller’ sees the quartet back on the road for 2014 and stopping by the Espy for their fiery live show, in-your-face display of first-rate musicianship and a set that is guaranteed to get you moving!
2014 is set to be a stellar year for pop-auteur ANDY BULL who is currently working on a full-length album, set for release this year. In 2013, two self-written, self-performed, self-produced singles, “Keep On Running” and “Baby I Am Nobody Now”, both attained most-played status on Triple J and Bull became one of the ‘most blogged about’ artists globally. Be sure to catch his unique sound live as he mixes grinding analog synthesizers, stuttering drums and hooks that are as sing-able as they are surprisingly dark.
The mighty DALLAS CRANE are back in town, returning to the Espy after their killer comeback gig at our NYE Party! After forging a reputation as one of the country’s finest rock acts, the much-loved Dallas Crane decided there’s plenty more in the tank and have launched back into the live scene with new single “I’m Sorry Darlin” off their forthcoming album. The band will be revisiting their famous old stomping ground, boasting a swagger of classics and gutsy leather-on-denim delivery.
Capping off the night is DJ YODA (UK) taking over the Espy decks spinning the hottest party tunes and showcasing his tongue-in-cheek mixing style that prompted Q Magazine to declare him “one of the ten DJs to see before you die”.
As if that wasn't enough, also performing live are hard rock duo KING OF THE NORTH renowned for their blazing ‘wall of sound’ live shows and rambunctious blokes BITTER SWEET KICKS delivering their swampy-punk garage rock. Local favourites THE PRETTY LITTLES return off the back of their National tour supporting the release of their debut album ‘Mash’ along with ballsy powerhouse rockers MASSIVE.
Resident act DALE RYDER BAND continue their sunny, Sunday session spot plus VERY HANDSOME MEN, COCOA JACKSON LANE and DJ MU-GEN roll on with the good vibes!
