Following the release of The Mountain Goats 15th ambitiously conceptual studio album ‘Beat the Champ’, the band led by singer/songwriter John Darnielle are once again returning to Australian shores with a nation-wide tour. Even more engaging in a live setting, The Mountain Goats will be supported by a full band backed by the sturdy rhythm section of Peter Hughes and Jon Wurster.
The new album ‘Beat the Champ’ is a nostalgic but realistic look at the workaday American Southwest underworld of the pro wrestlers he idolized as a kid. As always, it is the details that make this album so absorbing as he vividly imagines and paints their lives through lyric and melody.
