Godfrey Uke and his Orchestra are rumoured to have formed in Sydney, Australia, exactly one century after they probably should have been born somewhere else. While some of the songs they perform are nearly one hundred years old, they're still in fantastic condition! Godfrey Uke’s 'Tin Pan Alley' Show is an immersive theatrical throwback to the music and showmanship of the Roaring Twenties, brought to you by a troupe of seven superbly talented performers.

Featuring an energetic live soundtrack of popular songs from the Roaring Twenties, ‘Tin Pan Alley’ is the comic tale of Godfrey, a hapless ukulele-wielding song-and-dance man plotting his rise to stardom from the gritty regimen of the vaudeville stage.

Inspired by absurdist comedy and set to the infectious music of an era celebrated for its decadent rambunctiousness, ‘Tin Pan Alley’ honours the frivolity, hedonism and genius embodied by prohibition-era jazz.

Through authoritative renditions and cheeky adaptations of pre-War hits by the likes of Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, Hoagy Carmichael and George Gershwin, audiences are imaginatively transported to another era and invited to soak up the rich lyricism and humour of some of the greatest music of all time.

Bringing together a hand-picked group of Sydney’s most gregarious and multi-talented musical entertainers, ‘Tin Pan Alley’ promises an immersive and joyous hour of risible entertainment, harking back to a bygone style of artful showmanship with universal appeal.

This show was commissioned by Hotel Blue for 2016's Roaring 20s & All That Jazz Festival, and has since travelled to various venues and was included in the 2016 Adelaide Fringe Festival. Hotel Blue is excited to have these musical and comedy story-tellers back to Hotel Blue for the 2017 Roaring 20s Festival as a Festival feature act. Hotel Blue, the Mountains own 'House of Jazz'.

Suitable for all ages.

"A wonderful mixture of song, comedy and the narrative of the central character, Godfrey’s, life." Glamadelaide
