When 3 stars of the Sydney music scene combine, you expect something great . . . well get ready for something magical!
Jess Randall is the ‘crooked’ fiddler out of the energetic and frenzied ‘Crooked Fiddle band’. The Crooked Fiddle band are an absolute crowd favourite in the Blue Mountains having played the 2010 Blue Mountains Music Festival (they stole the show in 2010!) and multiple local performances since (most recently a near sellout 200 person gig). Jess plays her violin with a fiery and frenetic passion in her own gypsy-folk style.
Morgan Haselden is half of the beautiful and charming ‘Mimosa Duo’. Mimosa played at Hotel Blue during the 2015 Blue Mountains Music Festival. Every year the hotel fills to the brim with return festival-goers and it is the one weekend of the year that the hotel doesn’t put on live music . . . that was until Morgan walked in. Mimosa setup in our lounge whilst festival goers were having a drink at the bar getting ready for the big acts of the night. Mimosa entranced the audience and it was remarked by several of our guests as being one of the 2 standout performances of 2015’s festival despite the fact that Mimosa didn’t even play at the festival. If that isn’t a credit to their classical approach to gypsy jazz when Dan Sultan is about to go on across the road, I don’t know what is!
Elsen Price is an accomplished double-bassist having played in the NSW Police Band, studied at the Sydney Conservatorium, and was a solo performer at this year’s Sydney Vivid Festival. He is regarded as a gifted composer incorporating electronic media into traditional compositions and improvisations. Elsen is used to pushing the envelope and his inclusion in this modern balkan gypsy band is no exception.
This will be Totally Stringled’s first performance in the Mountains and it will be delightful to have The Squeezebox Trio back again. Do not miss this performance . . . consider it an early Christmas present to yourself!
