The day has finally come! After 6 years and many musical obsessions later, Ashton Weaver’s time at WAAPA is coming to an end. After spending the past few years writing and performing with bands in the original music scene, Ashton is thrilled to present his solo works alongside incredible musicians and friends met along the way. This contemporary guitar recital will reflect the years spent honing his craft and developing a love for composition. Taking influence from Madison Cunningham, Bon Iver, the 1975 and Plini, this eclectic blend will explore instrumental music through a new lens. Join Ashton for a night of original music and arrangements of formative songs to celebrate the end of an incredible journey!

Indigo Jewel
Join Indigo Jewel at the Rosemount Hotel for her final WAPPA Honours Recital - 'It's Not Over' a performance showcasing her original works. Indigo has carved out a unique sound by drawing inspiration from many of her favourite songwriters and artists spanning across a wide variety of genres. With a love of storytelling, clever wordplay and catchy melodies, Indigo's songwriting has been likened to artists such as Emily King, Kimbra, and Regina Spektor. In this special performance, 'It's Not Over' weaves together contrasting musical elements in her arrangements that encapsulate the juxtaposing experiences of joy, disillusionment, empowerment, heartache, resilience, loss, healing and hope, considered through the lens of the cyclical nature of growth. This collection of original songs (with the exception of one reimagined Paul Simon piece) will be brought to life with Indigo Jewel's unique vocal timbre and backed by a talented ensemble of some Perth's finest musicians. This remarkable night not only celebrates the culmination of Indigo's seven-year journey of tertiary music study (five years at WAAPA in the Contemporary Music Artist course preceded by two years at the Australian Institute of Music in Melbourne), but highlights that 'It's not over' by looking ahead to new beginnings as she embarks on new endeavours in life and music. Zac Wise
Join Zac Wise at the Rosemount Hotel for his final WAAPA Honours Recital, showcasing a collection of songs that have helped shape the drummer that he is today. Forging a sound heavily influenced by artists such as Questlove, Nate Smith, Chris Dave, and Andy Fisenden, Zac’s time studying the drums has allowed him to cultivate a skillset that covers a broad scope of musical styles. Culminating in a high energy collection of hip-hop, fusion and funk music, this performance not only marks the end of his four-year journey at WAAPA, but looks ahead to his future in the industry and beyond.
