NightQuarter is proud to be celebrating everything that is Aotearoa (NZ) on the 4th February in celebration of Waitangi Day!
What better way to celebrate the significance of the signing of New Zealand’s founding treaty than with a massive line up of music, food and cultural performances inspired by the land of the long white cloud.
You’re invited to sit back in The Paddock with your whānau, enjoy the sounds of none other than HOUSE OF SHEM, the Hanlon Brothers and The Hula Hut. The melting pot of global sounds with strong New Zealand and Pacific Island influences will be a great experience for Kiwis and Aussies alike!
House of Shem are one of New Zealand's biggest reggae bands, they are flying into the Gold Coast just for Waitangi Day at NightQuarter to share their traditional maori music and Pacific reggae.
They are an Aotearoa based harmony trio comprised of Carl Perkins and his two sons Te Omeka Perkins and Isaiah Perkins who are each multi instrumentalists and producers. Formed in 2005 in the rural area of Whanganui, the band embodies elements of roots reggae, pacific reggae and traditional maori music with relatable song-writing that connects powerfully with not only New Zealand and Australian audiences, but reggae listeners around the world.
The Hanlon Brothers burst onto the scene in 2012 with their impressive improvisation nights, which quickly grew so successful that they soon decided to take their creative chemistry to the recording studio. Combine three talented brothers with the most innovative musicians around, then add into the mix frontmen and killer combo - rapper Roman Albert, and the soulful voice of Mr. Thomas Stowers… and you have the infectious sound that is the Hanlon Brothers!
The Hula Hut - Polynesian Show is a culturally interactive, colourful, and funny show. The Hula Hut will take you on a journey to Aotearoa (NZ), Samoa, Cook Islands, Tahiti, and Hawaii. The Polynesian show will have you up and dancing around The Paddock to join in the fun.
