Emerging from the Sydney live circuit is singer/songwriter Erin Marshall. As a finalist in the 2010 APRA Professional Development awards, and a finalist in The International Songwriting Competition, it seems it’s a no brainer that this messy haired girl carelessly pave her way through the hearts of fellow sydney siders. Classic female icons such as Nancy Sinatra spring to mind, while there are also nods to the quirkiness of Feist, Sarah Blasko’s balladry, and the charming melody of The Carpenters. Erin’s songs have a universal feel to them. Her upbeat songs display an ear for a delicious pop tune, while her more ruminative moments showcase an emotional lyrical talent. Such pleasing dichotomy means that she is equally as appealing to indie snobs as she is to casual listeners of commercial radio.
