Hilz is a Meanjin-based singer-songwriter who has been making music for longer than she can remember. After a long stint in musical theatre (most recently including a 2022 national tour of Shake & Stir’s Jane Eyre, understudying Sarah McLeod of the Superjesus), in 2022 Hilz made the decision to finally take the plunge into releasing original music.



She writes alongside her brother, Al (keyboard/bass) and they are supported live by Gabe (guitar) and Will (drums). Between them, the group have decades of performance experience and have played in venues all over Brisbane, including the Tivoli, Lefty’s Music Hall, Bloodhound Bar, TomCat and the Powerhouse.


Hilz’ sound is a fresh and modern take on pop, taking inspiration from contemporary greats like Kimbra, Maggie Rogers and HAIM. Her debut single ‘Circles’ was released in September, and was described as “an incredible track…a lush pop song, with jazz elements that gives the song a dreamy feel” (Laura Hughes, Happy Mag). Working alongside local producers Levi Russell and Adrian Carroll, Hilz’ newest track ‘All I Ever Wanted’ dropped in May, with her debut EP of the same name set for release in the second half of the year.
