HI MOTIVE is an electronic duo coming out of Inner Sydney, comprised of Matt Rowe and Ed Rose. HI MOTIVE’s music features a blend of melodic vocals alongside ethereal synths with deep bass overlying a driving beat.

Since forming in January, HI MOTIVE’s debut release ‘Falling’ reached #1 on the Triple J Unearthed Electronic Charts. This was followed by their second release ‘Silk’ which reached #2 on the Triple J Unearthed charts and had over 30K streams across streaming platforms, along with plays on the Unearthed Radio and support from Dave Ruby Howe and the team at Triple J.

Their third release 'Gone' was premiered with Pilerats on September 5th, before being aired on Triple J on its first day.

With Ed hailing from Tasmania and Matt from Queensland, the pair first began writing music together in their dorm room at UNSW in 2014. Ed first started out as a drum soloist who began producing his own music in 2013, before collaborating with Matt, a vocalist. After creating rough electronic mixes together in the walls of their dorm room, they moved out together to begin their path to becoming aspiring electronic artists.

Whilst studying, Matt (engineering) and Ed (medicine) performed together in a live band at venues across Sydney before forming their new project HI MOTIVE.
