Pianist
John Royen has been performing traditional jazz piano in New Orleans since 1978. His eclectic style draws from the influence of “fats” Waller, Jelly Roll Morton and others. He performed and toured with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band for over 25 years. He has also performed with such major artists as Pete Fountain and Al Hirt. Today John performs at the prestigious Windsor Court Hotel as well as numerous jazz clubs around New Orleans, and has performed and lectured for a number of groups and universities around the country.
As a major jazz pianist in New Orleans, John can perform solo or draw on the finest musicians in the city to create a superb group from a duo to a seven piece jazz band.
