MAYARO The BAND…The Next Wave’s mission statement is “To Change and Fix the World through Music”.
MAYARO The BAND was conceived by its leader, Joel Ali, about 9 years ago while residing in Canada. Having moved back to Trinidad in 2010 after 23 years, Joel reformed his band in March, 2011. He brought to the band his extensive resume of playing guitar for huge Calypso and Soca stars, as well as for Motown great, Percy Sledge.
MTB has been making waves all over Trinidad for the past 4 years. They are an all-genre band, based in Marabella, playing Soca, Reggae, Mainstream and Jazz. They have played for several All-Inclusive Fetes, Corporate and Private gigs. Their Carnival release for 2014, “The Dhoti Song” caused sonic waves! They made it to the Chutney Soca Monarch Finals 2014, placed 5th in the International Soca Monarch Finals and placed 3rd in Young Kings Finals. They performed at the Tobago Jazz Festival at Mt. Irvine Bay Resort (only Jazz music) and did Reggae on The Avenue. The Movement continues….
