Nzingha is a singer, songwriter, writer/poet, educator, actress and composer who was born in Nairobi, Kenya to Trinbagonian parents. She was educated at Arima New Government Primary School and St. Joseph's Convent Port-of-Spain. She took second class honours (cum laude) in a Bachelor's Degree in Voice from Colgate University in 2007 and subsequently became a music teacher, first at the Pentecostal Light and Life Foundation High School in Scarborough, Tobago, and then at Queen's Royal College in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad. Nzingha began performing in her teenage years, at calypso and extempo competitions at her high school, won the duet class at the Music Festival in 1999 alongside soprano Vanessa Bushe, and the Soundstage 2002 national competition for upcoming artists. She studied theatre arts and has performed at Open Mic events Necessary Stage, Euphorum, Songshine, OPEN, The Friendship Festival and Indigenous. In 2013 she was awarded a Tobago Cultural Committee Star of Gold award.
