Ruer is the latest original project from professionally music trained Nicole Tanner. Based in Perth, WA, Nicole studied a 4 year bachelor’s degree in Jazz Performance at the highly esteemed Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), and she now uses her in-depth understanding of music to create fun, funky, head-bopping, electronic beats. While Ruer’s production gets you in the groove, her vocal virtuosity often steals the show both in recording and live on stage.
While Ruer has only been around since May 2018, she has already made impressions in the scene. In October 2018, Ruer’s first attempt at production scored her a place with the top 5 finalists in the Triple J Remix Competition, with Home and Hosed presenter, Declan Byrne calling it “a masterstroke,” and Drive co-host, Veronica Milsom, loving it so much they highlighted it on the radio, “The harmonies are just so good.”
Since then Ruer released her debut single, I Don’t Need Ya, catching the attention of WOMPP (Women of Music Production Perth) and signing to their label. The single also earned her a WAM (Western Australian Music) Song of the Year nomination for 2018/19.
Currently, Ruer is dropping her new single, Glued to the Floor, on October 4th with the intention to release an EP in 2020. As she continues to perform and showcase her creativity and musicianship, Ruer is hoping to share her music in a national tour in the near future.
