Steve Tyson’s debut solo album TEMPLE DOG, released in 2011, was a collection of eclectic folk songs, that resonated with critics in Australia. Inspired by a lifetime of extensive travels through exotic locations such as India, Japan, Vietnam and Russia, this set of extraordinary songs drew 4 star reviews in the national music press.

With a musical pedigree that includes playing in Chuck Berry’s touring band, supporting legendary rockers Status Quo on a 31 date tour of the UK, plus six European tours and seven albums as guitarist/mandolin player with Australian folk-rock band Rough Red, Tyson has mined his well of experience to create his follow-up album GREEN SIDE UP, released in late 2014. For much of the inspiration for this record, Steve had to look no further than his family history, with stories of war, love, and murder intertwined with tales from the road, and a healthy dose of black humour. Like his debut, musically the album hints at influences from the blues to The Beatles,
This song is the story of my great-grandmother Ellen Lematey, who brought up 7 children under tough circumstances in North Queensland.
This is the true story of my great uncle, and the terrible choice he had to make to escape a German prison camp in World War 1
a song inspired by a signpost in India...
