Tsholofelo Rangaka, known as Straata (formerly Streetz), is a Mahikeng-born
rapper and cultural storyteller rooted in the spirit of Lomanyaneng Village. Born
on January 6, 1995,
The name Straata, a reworking of “streets,
” reflects both identity and allegiance.
His music speaks for pavement philosophers, corner hustlers, dreamers raised by
struggle, and communities that carry both laughter and loss. He is a voice shaped
by dust roads, Tuck shops, and unfiltered truth.
Straata expresses his identity through fashion — merging classic “Madamara”
gentleman aesthetics with modern streetwear. His presence is as intentional
visually as it is lyrically.
He has performed on major stages including Maftown Heights, Sun City Music,
Tshwane Fontein , Festival, Mahika Mahikeng, and Fresh Prince of Maftown,
bringing high-energy performances grounded in hometown pride.
Straata has officially released his long-awaited EP, ‘TYS’ (Tsholofelo Ya Straata) - an authentic, executive-grade project built for pavement philosophers, corner hustlers, and dreamers.
TYS unites a powerhouse team: Super producer Biggest Kay drives the EP's core sound across most tracks, with additional production from Mjabulani, Mula Man, and SA hip-hop pioneer Thasman. Thasman completes the sound architecture by mixing & mastering all seven tracks, while rapper A1RSA delivers a solid guest feature.
