World-acclaimed singer-songwriter Wes Pudsey has penned and performed some of the most memorable anthems to emerge from Australia’s independent music scene. Songs now considered modern Rockabilly classics – My Baby Looks Like Betty Page, Maybe, There’s Gonna Be A Rumble, Hepster Daddy-o and many others have taken the Sydney-based rocker around the world several times, backed by his frenetic trio of roots-rock adepts The Sonic Aces. Headlining at music festivals including the Hemsby Weekender in the UK and America’s Viva Las Vegas, Wes has shared the stage with fellow roots-rock luminaries Southern Culture On The Skids, members of the legendary Rockabilly group The Stray Cats, and American swing-jump blues legends Royal Crown Revue, to name but a few.
His three albums and one EP released with the Sonic Aces on indie label Curtis Records have become landmark works and have proved a huge success in markets across Europe, Scandinavia, The USA and Japan. With his multi-octave vocal range and uninhibited live performances, Wes has established himself in his home country as one of its preeminent roots artists and an act that simply can’t be followed. The influence of his songwriting, energetic stage act and celebrated vintage dress style on his contemporaries continues to shape the approach of every roots-based musician to pick up an instrument on the east coast of his home country.
