Raised in a classical music family, Jon discovered jazz as a teen and soon gravitated to bassists who pushed the limits of the instrument. Victor Wooten. Jaco Pastorius. Jon followed their influence for a style that mixed the percussive and melodic. As bassist for the progressive jazz band Marbin, Jon typically spends two hundred nights a year on the road, travel that enables him to return to Chicago with exposure to music from across the globe. At Adorn, Jon leads a group, including vocal appearances by his wife, inspired by the dynamic fusion of the menu at Jonathan Sawyer’s adjacent restaurant. Middle Eastern scales.
